Symphony by the Sea, North of Boston Professional Orchestra

Symphony by the Sea is the premier professional orchestra north of Boston.  Established in 1981 by the late Royston Nash, former Music Director of London’s D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, it provided a group of talented professional musicians a local alternative to community orchestras.

For over 44 years, Symphony by the Sea has brought an outstanding array of soloists to its stage including such celebrated artists as Pamela Frank, Stephanie Chase and Paula Robison as well as members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  In addition, our subscription series concerts have regularly featured emerging young artists such as Stefan Jackiw and Augustine Hadelich who have gone on to headline performances at notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall and the Tanglewood Music Festival.

Symphony by the Sea continues its tradition to present a wide range of beloved classical masterpieces, opera and music from the films and Broadway stage. The orchestra’s concert venue at the historic, beautifully restored Cabot Theater in Beverly is a perfect match for our chamber-sized ensemble of 35-40 musicians.

Symphony by the Sea is in the process of expanding its Board, its reach and outreach.  As a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers to support its mission and professional musicians, Symphony by the Sea would value the gift of your time, your expertise and your financial support.  If you would like to play a role in the exciting cultural work of our organization, please contact us.
